14 DAY TRIAL // Showcased at IFA 2011, Sony Ericsson Xperia neo V is now available for pre-order in India with an expected release date on October 12.
According to the guys over at AndroidOS, major Indian retailer Letsbuy has started to take pre-orders for Rs 17,999 (about $367 or 271 EUR), much cheaper than the initial Rs 20,125 (roughly $410 or 303 EUR) suggested retail price.
Xperia neo V is a downgraded Xperia Neo, which comes with a 5-megapixel main camera, instead of the powerful 8-megapixel photo snapper included with the original variant.
Although, Sony Ericsson did not introduced the original Xperia neo in India, Android fans will be able to get the its follow up, in the next two weeks.
Aside a downgraded camera, Xperia neo V comes with Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system, which brings new features, such as Google Talk with Video Chat and 3D sweep panorama along with enhanced Facebook inside Xperia functionality.
“With this software upgrade, we are bringing a wealth of new and really entertaining experiences to all our 2011 Xperia smartphones, including those already in consumers’ hands today. Our users will get to enjoy new features from Google, an even richer Facebook integration, and enhanced camera functionality from Sony,” said Nikolaus Scheurer, Head of Product Marketing at Sony Ericsson.
The smartphone is equipped with a similar single core 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor and an Adreno 205 graphics processing unit.
It packs 320 MB of internal memory, 512 MB of RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2 GB memory card included).
The 5-megapixel camera on the back features autofocus, LED flash, video calling, face and smile detection, 3D sweep panorama. In addition, Xperia neo V comes with a secondary VGA front-facing camera.
The phone's 1500 mAh Li-Polymer battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 430 hours (400 hours for 3G mode) of standby time or up to 7 hours for talk time.
