Sony Ericsson Xperia neo, one of the new Android-based mobile phones that Sony Ericsson unveiled to the world in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, is now listed on Orange UK's coming soon page. The mobile phone does not have a specific release date attached to it, but we know that it will be offered for free on specific monthly plans from the wireless carrier.

The Xperia neo was unveiled to the world as an affordable Android 2.3 Gingerbread-based mobile phone, which means that Orange might make it available on some of its lower-cost plans as well.

The handset was launched in a candybar form factor, sporting a 3.7-inch touchscreen display with the BRAVIA engine, the same as its sibling, the Xperia pro.

Although an affordable device, the phone still comes with appealing features, including an 8-megapixel auto focus camera on the back, built-in GPS receiver, or HSDPA connectivity capabilities.

“The Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo is no ordinary phone. Boasting the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system as well as a 3.7-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touch screen with an accelerometer sensor, this phone is both powerful and intuitive,” the wireless carrier notes on its website.

“The 8-megapixel camera is high end - combining geo-tagging, face detection and auto focus to give you the best chance of capturing a wonderful image. The FM radio ensures that you can listen to all the latest tunes.”

The specifications list of Sony Ericsson Xperia neo also includes WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity and micro USB v2.0 port, along with support for Orange Maps, video messaging, FM radio, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The new device also comes with support for Google Mobile services, as well as for applications available for download via the Android Market or the Orange App Store, or pre-loaded on it by the wireless carrier.
