14 DAY TRIAL // Sony Ericsson has just launched the Xperia mini and mini pro smartphone in Taiwan, ahead of schedule.
Although both smartphones have just received FCC (Federal Communications Commission), it looks like Sony Ericsson decided to make them available in Taiwan, though they are expected to land on the market only in Q3.
Xperia mini and mini pro are now available for purchase in Taiwan for a suggested retail price of NT$7990 (about $277) and NT$8990 (roughly $311), respectively.
The price tags seem pretty reasonable for two compact and powerful Android smartphones, but we wonder why the sudden change in plans for Sony Ericsson who launched this duo of handsets only in several regions.
In this regard, it is worth mentioning that both devices were also expected to be released in India this weekend, but for unknown reasons the launch was delayed until further notice.
Even though they are small, Xperia mini and mini pro are equipped with powerful single core Qualcomm Snapdragon processors clocked at 1GHz and complemented by an Adreno 205 GPU.
The compact Xperia duo have different targets, whereas Xperia mini pro is aimed at business customers and heavy texters thanks to its full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, the Xperia mini could be the perfect solution for multimedia addicts.
Powered by Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) platform, both smartphones pack a rather small amount of storage, only 320 MB user available.
Moreover, Xperia mini and mini pro come with 512 MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB memory card included).
Each phone is delivered with a 3.0-inch LED-backlit LCD, capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 320 x 480 pixels resolution, based on Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine.
Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with DLNA function, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and microUSB, as well as GPS with A-GPS support and digital compass are among the connectivity options offered by the Xperia mini and mini pro.
