Xperia arc, one of the handsets that Japanese-Swedish mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson launched during the ongoing year with Google's Android operating system on board, is expected to arrive on shelves in Australia very soon, and some more info on the price tags it might sport there emerged.

We already saw the mobile phone listed at Optus in the country, available for $0 upfront on the $79 per month business plan from the wireless carrier, but it seems that end-users would also be able to purchase it through great deals as well.

One of them would come from Virgin, which reportedly would have the device priced at $5 on a Easy Cap 49, a recent article on Ausdroid reads.

For $54 a month, users would receive both a great device, and an appealing contract. The monthly plan would include $450 worth of credit, 500MB of data and Unlimited Virgin 2 Virgin calls and text.

For the time being, no specific info on when would the device become available emerged, but chances are that this would happen in the immediate future.

Previous reports on the matter suggested that Sony Ericsson would indeed launch the Xperia arc on shelves in Australia in a matter of days, especially since the company noted on its Facebook page that early April would be the lucky time frame for enthusiasts.

The Xperia arc was unveiled to the world in early January during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, with a large 4.2-inch screen, a fast application processor, and Google's new Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform on board.

The mobile phone comes with a slim design, complemented by great multimedia capabilities, such as an 8.1-megapixel photo snapper with HD video recording capabilities, fast Internet browsing, or support for various applications and games available for download via the Android Market.

The handset also sports 3G connectivity, WiFi and Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack, built-in GPS receiver, and a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space.
