Three of the newest Xperia Android-based smartphones introduced this year have just gone live on the Orange UK “Coming Soon” page.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, arc and Neo have been confirmed by the carrier in mid-February, but all three are expected to be available in the second quarter of 2011.

That leaves customers with just over a week to decide which of the three to go for. According the carrier's website, all devices will be available both for free, with select plans, or for a certain price with lower-end contracts.

All three smartphones are powered by the same Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon processor, complemented by an Adreno 205 GPU (graphical processing unit). In addition, they delivered with Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board, and Timescape UI on top.

The highly anticipated Xperia arc is equipped with a large 4.2-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 480 x 854 pixels resolution. The display embeds Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine which is supposed to make its colors more crisp and vivid.

Xperia arc packs 512 MB RAM and 320 MB of internal storage, which can be expanded via the microSD card slot up to 32GB (8 GB included).

The Xperia Play comes with a slightly 4.0-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen, but features the same 16 million colors support and 480 x 854 pixels resolution.

Odd for a gaming device, the Xperia Play packs only 380 user-available MB RAM. The phone stands out thanks to its PSP like gaming buttons and touch sensitive controls. Other highlights of the device include: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, DLNA support, a 5.0-megapixel camera and microSD card slot.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo is the less-featured of the three and comes with a much smaller 3.7-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen powered by Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine.

The smartphone is HSDPA-enabled and boasts an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and camcorder (720p@30fps).

Xperia Neo sports 320 MB of internal memory, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, microSD card slot and DLNA support.
