Sony Ericsson is launching X1 with a reality thriller web series. The story goes like this: Johnny X is a man who has amnesia, and he's trying to remember his identity as he’s being chased by the police. Basically, it's a race against time for the main character.

With each new episode, Johnny puts together more pieces of the puzzle and he's updating the content on his Xperia X1, which is thus helping him tack together his identity. Understandably, this aims to show users how the new Sony Ericsson smartphone can be personalized for each user's needs.

The mini series has nine episodes, directly reminding of the interface of the phone, where you have nine square miniature high-resolution screen captures of the application in the launcher that users can customize to their needs.

Head of Marketing at Sony Ericsson Lennard Hoornik says in a press release on the Sony Ericsson website, “Producing the Johnny X thriller has given us an engaging platform to demonstrate all the capabilities and features a user can experience with the Xperia  X1 phone.” He further adds that “the panel interface is a perfect way to reflect your personality and can be tailored and changed to suit your exact needs at any given time. No two Xperia X1 will ever have the same combination of panels on the phone; we are all individuals and deserve to have a phone that reflects that. ”

If you come to think about it, it's a lot easier to watch the online series than to read the entire user's manual that comes with the phone, so this movie is a pretty good idea. The only bad thing about it is that each episode will be posted online every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, over a period of three weeks. This means that it might take a while until you get to see all the goodies that Xperia has to offer, in case you plan to learn how to use it from the movie instead of reading the manual. The first episode already aired yesterday, September 22. You can check it out here.
