14 DAY TRIAL // Just like its superior brothers Xperia arc and Play, the Xperia Neo will be hitting the shelves in Canada sometime in April. The smartphone has just popped up on the official Canadian Sony-Ericsson “Coming Soon” webpage.
While the Xperia arc and Xperia Play are expected to be available soon from Rogers Canada, the Xperia Neo is yet to be confirmed by any of the major carriers in the country.
Xperia Neo is one of Sony Ericsson's new high-tier Android smartphones that was introduced at the 2011 Mobile World Congress, back in February, along with Xperia Play, Xperia Pro and Xperia Play.
One of the best in its lineup when it comes to performance, the Xperia Neo is an Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone meant to offer those who do not have the budget for the Xperia arc, a similar experience on a smaller display.
The device is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor, complemented by an Adreno 205 GPU. The phone comes with a slightly smaller 3.7-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen, while the Xperia arc features an impressive 4.2-inch touchscreen.
However, both displays are based on the Sony Mobile BRAVIA engine and feature a scratch resistant surface.
It packs 320 MB storage, 512 MB RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB); an 8 GB microSD memory card is also included in the sales package.
Other highlights of the HSDPA-enables smartphone include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, DLNA function, Wi-Fi hotspot feature, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support, GPS with A-GPS and Stereo FM radio with RDS.
One of the strong points of the phone is the 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, touch focus, face and smile detection. The photo snapper can also record HD clips (720p@30fps) and features continuous autofocus and video light.
Currently, there are no details regarding the phone's launch date or price tag, but it will be available in three colors: White, Blue and Red.
