On Tuesday, Indian mobile phone maker Xolo launched a new Android-based device in its homeland market, in the form of Xolo Q1010i, which should prove a nice upgrade over the older Xolo Q1010.

The new device arrives on shelves with a large 5-inch touchscreen display capable of offering an HD resolution, as well as with an Exmor R camera sensor on the back.

Xolo unveiled the handset with a price tag of Rs. 13,499 ($222/€161) attached to it, though it might not be too long before retailers out there cut its cost.

As mentioned above, the smartphone arrives as the successor of the popular Xolo Q1010 and is available for purchase in India in a Black color version, as fonearena notes.

The handset hits shelves with specs similar to those of Xolo Q1010, though it also features a series of updated features, which should result in an overall better experience for its users.

The specifications list of Xolo Q1010i includes the aforementioned 5-inch 1280 x 720 pixels touchscreen with One-glass-Solution (OGS) technology and Asahi Scratch Resistant Glass, as well as a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor.

Moreover, the mobile phone arrives on the market with 1GB of RAM packed inside, as well as with 8GB of internal memory. Xolo also included a microSD memory card slot in it, offering support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

On the back, the new device sports an 8-megapixel camera, which features LED Flash, Sony Exmor R sensor, and an f/2.0 aperture. The phone also comes with a 2MP front camera, which should allow users to make video calls while on the go.

In addition to offering full HD video recording capabilities, the Xolo Q1010i supports full HD video playback, it seems.

It also features dual-SIM capabilities (GSM + GSM) with dual standby, as well as the usual set of connectivity options, such as 3G (HSDPA: 21 Mbps, HSUPA: 5.76 Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.0.

On top of that, the phone comes on shelves with built-in GPS receiver, as well as with USB OTG capabilities, as well as with 3.5mm audio jack and FM Radio. The new device is 8.3mm thick.

Xolo Q1010i is powered by a 2250mAh battery and runs under the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. However, it seems that Xolo might also plan on providing users with an upgrade to the newer Android 4.4 KitKat operating system version, though no info on when that might happen has been provided.
