After making us wait for a very long time, Xiaomi finally pulled the wraps off its first tablet product, the MiPad, which obviously has been created as an answer to Apple’s popular iPad mini with Retina Display.

The company said the tablet would be launched later this year, but until that happens, they have a little surprise stored up. This week the popular Chinese smartphone marker announced a grandiose surprise for those hoping to grab the device, reports TechInAsia.

According to the report, Xiaomi is ready to offer the first 300 MiPad tablets for a special beta price of only 1 Yuan (in translation, a meager 16 cents).

However, no one deciding today they want a MiPad tablet in their life will be able to take advantage of the offer. The special price will apply to VIP members of the Xiaomi forums, who will thus be amongst the first adopters of the slate in the world.

The rest of us will have to wait until later this year when Xiaomi finally launches the tablet onto the market.

As a memory refresh, the Xiaomi tablet arrives with 7.9-inch screen boasting a Retina-like display resolution of 2048x 1536 pixels and embeds NVIDIA’s latest Tegra K1 SoC, a quad-core Cortex A15 clocked at 2.2GHz fitted with 192 graphical cores.
