After being in the rumor mill for so long, the Xiaomi tablet leaks again

Since its April’s Fools Day today, we’re tempted to take any information that comes our way with a grain of salt. Like this Xiaomi tablet leak which finally puts a date to the release of the tablet.

Earlier this month, Xiaomi was expected to launch its much-rumored slate at the same event in Beijing where the Hongmi 5.5-inch phablet saw the light of day. But that didn't happen and some of us were tempted to believe the tablet actually lived in the realm of fantasy.

Now, this new information claims the so-called MiPad is far from being a myth and will actually become reality in a week’s time.

According to GizChina, the tablet is due to arrive on April 8 and will sell with the price tag of $209 / €151.

We hope this information is the real deal and not another cruel joke, but since there’s no over-the-top claim like the product supporting inexistent standards (like we saw earlier with Samsung’s Glove), it might well just be true.

The screen size of the upcoming MiPad tablet has been a mystery, as the dimensions have varied from 6 to 9.2-inches.

The latest report claims the slate should come sporting a screen size that places it exactly in the middle of the phablet/tablet category (6-7-inch). The device will come bundled with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory and two cameras (13MP on the back and 5MP frontal one).

With every new leak, it seems like something changes regarding the specs the upcoming Xiaomi tablet is supposed to have.

Some months ago, we told you the slate should have made it into the wild with a 7-inch display (possibly IGZO) and drawing power from a quad-core MediaTek MT8125 CPU clocked at 1.5GHz. The 13MP frontal camera was rumored back then, too.

Then earlier in March, a new leak changed everything, showing the tablet will come with a huge 9.2-inch screen with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution (no IGZO) instead.

Under the hood, some noticeable changes were hidden as well, as the quad-core MediaTek processor changed into a Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.6GHz combined with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

The 13MP camera scenario was then blown away to pieces, as the new rumor claimed there was going to be an 8MP frontal camera instead.

This constant fluctuation of rumors makes us wonder whether the Xiaomi tablet is actually a real deal or just a dream some desperately want to see become reality.
