14 DAY TRIAL // Since Xiaomi launched the Mi4i smartphone on the market, many owners have reported various problems, including an overheating issue that hasn't yet been fixed by the Chinese company.
Last week, Xiaomi rolled out MIUI v6.5.4.0 system update to Mi4i device, which was meant to address the overheating problems users have been reporting in the last couple of days.
However, the update the company delivered broke other things and still didn't really fix the above-mentioned problem.
For these reasons, Xiaomi put the update on hold over the weekend and promised that a new system update would be available sometime this week.
True to its promise, Xiaomi has just announced that MIUI v6.5.5.0 OTA (over the air) update is now available for Mi4i users.
According to Xiaomi's Hugo Barra, the previous update that his company rolled out last week had some bugs, “some users reported a minor issue related to the power button, so we created a fix over the weekend and resumed the roll out today.”
All Mi4i owners should get the update this week
This seems a bit unlikely since most Xiaomi Mi4i owners reported major problems with their smartphones after updating to MIUI v6.5.4.0 like random data connection drops and battery life issue.
Also, the camera didn't seem to work properly anymore after the update, so it's not just the power button-related bug that Xiaomi's official confirmed today.
Anyway, the good news is that a fix is now available for all the issues that Xiaomi Mi4i owners have reported on in the last couple of days.
There's no official changelog for MIUI v6.5.5.0, but Hugo Barra claims the update also contains “a number of bug fixes and optimizations.”
Barra also said that during the update's “internal testing and pre-OTA release in the MIUI Forum and beta testers,” Xiaomi's engineers noticed that the changes in the update reduce the device's overall temperature without impacting performance.
Keep in mind that the update is pushed OTA (over the air) in stages, so all Xiaomi Mi4i owners should receive the update this week.
