Don’t expect Xiaomi to launch a new flagship anytime soon

Up and rising, Chinese smartphone producer Xiaomi has had a great 2014. The device maker has managed to sell 61 million devices worldwide, an important increase from last year’s 19 million units.

For 2015, the company wants to keep on growing and has set a very competitive goal for itself. The Chinese device maker plans to sell up to 100 million handsets by the end of the year.

Not long ago, Xiaomi rolled out two new phones, the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro (which runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 and comes with 4GB of RAM on the inside), which have reportedly received a lot of positive feedback so far (the Mi Note at least, since the higher end version is not available yet).

But Xiaomi is also currently offering the Mi 4, a model that got released back in July 2014. So now everyone is expecting the device maker to roll out the Mi 4’s successor this summer, which the rumor mill has dubbed the Mi 5.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 might make a late debut

The device has showed its face in previous leaks, with an attractive, bezel-less body, something that got a lot of people excited.

But according to a report coming from an industry analyst, Pan Jiutang, we might have to wait some time before we see the Mi 5 make a debut into the wild.

According to him, the new handset will make a debut in the fourth quarter of the year, which means as late as October, November or even December (as seen at My Drivers).

The analyst doesn't give us a reason for his prediction, so we guess we just have to wait for more information related on the matter to surface.

The Mi 5 is going to be the company’s new flagship and is expected to be a lot better than the Mi 4.

The handset will probably resemble the Mi Note Pro a lot inwardly, arriving with a Quad HD display and 4GB of RAM. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 might end up powering the device, but Xiaomi will probably have to think of ways to differentiate the Mi 5 from the Mi Note Pro to make it worthy of attention.
