An updated flavor of the Xbox Video application is now available for download for the owners of Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices out there, namely version 2.5.3962.0.

The new app release was pushed out with a nice range of fixes and enhancements packed inside, meant to resolve many of the issues that users have been affected by in the previous iteration.

According to the official changelog for the application, available in the Windows Phone Store, the update comes only with minor fixes and improvements, but things are actually different.

The guys over at WPCentral have managed to discover the full release notes for the application, unveiling that it now resolves a bug that has caused around 75 percent of crashes in the past 30 days.

Additionally, the Xbox Video tile on the home screen now offers support for custom backgrounds and for theme colors, which means that users no longer need a third-party app for that.

Moreover, the new update comes with a series of fixes for issues related to licensed content, such as behind-the-scenes timing issues that sometimes caused an edge case where a piece of licensed content could not be downloaded.

Following the update, all downloaded content should be available for playback at all times, even when the phone is offline (does not have an Internet connection). Moreover, the content should be available even after switching to streaming via the UI.

Some other fixes in the new app iteration include:

- An unexpected application exit after purchasing a TV season with a large number of shows.

-  Choppiness/frame rate stutter after resuming playback.

- Links to TV seasons listed in Featured Sets were pointing to the details pages for the wrong season in that TV series.

- An intermittent issue where Movie and TV Collections sometimes appeared empty when the phone was offline.

- In some cases, purchased Movie and TV content was not showing in a user's collection.

Moreover, Xbox Video 2.5.3962.0 for Windows Phone also fixes various localization problems, the aforementioned changelog unveils.

All in all, it appears that Microsoft has decided to deliver a nice range of changes in the new app iteration, despite the fact that they were not officially detailed in the Windows Phone Store.

Moving forth, Microsoft is set to resolve some bigger issues in the mobile app, which means that users might not see a new update for it for several weeks.

Those of you interested in grabbing the latest Xbox Video for Windows Phone iteration should head over to the Windows Phone Store for that.
