The development team in charge of the Xbox One home console at Microsoft announces that all fans of the device who are interested in picking up a new wireless controller or a stereo headset will be able to choose a new military-themed and camouflaged pattern set later in the fall.

Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson, the leading community liaison at the company, says that all the core functionality of the currently available models will be retained and that both devices are set to be offered in October, although the exact date is not yet clear.

The Xbox One Special Edition Armed Forces Wireless Controller, as Microsoft officially calls it, will include "a Metallic chrome d-pad in addition to the camo pattern."

The controller will be sold for 64.99 dollars in the United States and there's no info on whether the same piece of hardware will be offered on European markets.

The Xbox One Special Edition Armed Forces Stereo Headset also arrives in October and the suggested retail price is 89.99 dollars.

The two peripherals for the next-gen console from Microsoft are designed to attract a new set of buyers and to offer some variety, which is becoming increasingly important as the platform enters its second year of availability.

The Xbox One has recently dropped the Kinect motion tracking system from the core retail package and reduced the price to 399 dollars or Euro, which is the same as that of the rival PlayStation 4 from Sony.

Microsoft is also getting ready to launch the device in September on a number of secondary markets, including Japan, and says that it will cut the price of some games in order to make the platform attractive to potential buyers.

At the same time, the company is getting ready to deliver more entertainment content, including two Halo-related television series, one of them produced by Steven Spielberg and another one by Ridley Scott, which has just wrapped up filming in Iceland.

The Xbox One is at the moment lagging behind in terms of sales when compared to the PlayStation 4 from Sony, by as much as 3 million units.

The performance of the device might improve in the coming months and rumors are suggesting that Microsoft is also planning to introduce some new bundles in order to attract players, including a special one based around the new Halo: The Master Chief Collection set of remakes.
