Lots of features will make a comeback in the future

Microsoft has shared a few more of its thoughts concerning the different digital features that it initially announced for the Xbox One and then changed to please gamers, saying that many (if not all) will make a comeback after the next-gen console's launch.

The Xbox One was revealed back in May and Microsoft proudly touted its digital-focused vision for the device, which required an almost constant internet connection to ensure that users aren't doing any shady things.

Those requirements were quickly eliminated as Microsoft realized the negative backlash from loyal fans and replaced the initial system with another, similar to the one on the Xbox 360.

These changes, however, don't mean that the digital features won't make a comeback anytime soon, at least according to Microsoft's Phil Harrison, who talked with Edge.

"So there has been some change in our engineering priorities as you would expect, but we don’t have any change to our fundamental vision which is that the world is going to be a digital place. We have incorporated some of the important benefits of disc-based games, mainly sharing and trading games, but that doesn’t dull or change our digital vision."

"We just reordered our priorities a little bit. We have a very significant engineering team – some of the smartest people I’ve ever worked with – who are very focused on launch right now. But as soon as we get past launch then there are some really exciting things that are on the way."

Harrison also emphasized that, despite the different changes, some of that digital-focused vision is still there, even if it refers only to downloadable games.

"All that we have changed is our DRM policy on disc-based games. We include disc-based games as part of our system whereas previously it was a cloud-based licensing system. But all the benefits of being able to download a game digitally, then go to your friends’ house and log in as you, that content goes with you. That’s there."

The Xbox One launches on November 22 in 13 countries around the world.
