There are still some known issues with Instant-On

Microsoft has just rolled out a brand new version of its current Xbox One beta system software, fixing some of the issues reported by testers with Forza Horizon 2, as well as some other problems with Live TV.

The Xbox One console has received monthly firmware updates for quite some time now, with Microsoft bringing forth new system software versions filled with fresh features as well as solutions to problems or issues reported by users or detected by Microsoft's staff.

The upcoming October update for the Xbox One firmware is set to debut in the following weeks, and as usual, a preview beta version has been available for participants in the Xbox Live preview program.

The beta firmware has been improved

Unfortunately, while so far the beta firmware updates have been relatively stable, the latest version had a few issues with the new Forza Horizon 2 or even the older Forza Motorsport 5, not to mention some other things.

Now, Microsoft has confirmed that a fresh version of the preview system software has been rolled out over its Xbox Live online service, bringing some solutions to the issues reported by players.

More specifically, as revealed via DualShockers, Xbox One owners with the new firmware shouldn't encounter crashes or failures when starting games like Forza Horizon 2 or Forza Motorsport 5. The Live TV function should also not have any red flickering, as some people reported such a behavior after installing the new firmware.

There are still some known issues

Microsoft also confirms that, unfortunately, it hasn’t been able to fix all the reported problems via the firmware update, as it still has some known issues with the latest build of the system software.

One particular problem affects the Instant-On mode which, in some cases, no longer shows the console's connection to the Xbox Live service.

"We’re investigating an issue with Instant-On mode, where when signing-in the Home screen appears but the only twist available is Home. Featured, Friends, and Store do not appear, and Pins is replaced with a 'Connect to Live' tile, even though you are already connected to Live," Microsoft explains.

A small workaround has been found until an actual fix is located, and it involves testing the network connection.

"Workaround: Navigate to Settings > Network, and select Test network connection. The network test will run, and you will be prompted with a message that 'It’s all good'. When you return to the dashboard all content should display correctly."

The new firmware update is already available for download via the Xbox Live service for Preview program participants.
