Microsoft has warned Xbox One owners who opted to try out the upcoming April system software update that major issues with the Blu-ray drive have been spotted and that solutions are coming soon. Until then, a special workaround is available for those who are affected by the problems.

The Xbox One received quite a few different firmware updates in recent months, as Microsoft wanted to make sure that the console is working as well as possible in the midst of big releases like Titanfall.

What's more, the company is also testing the upcoming April system software update for the Xbox One, already releasing it to those who opted to participate in the beta stage some time ago.

Unfortunately, it seems that quite a few different issues with the Blu-ray drive have been caused by the new build, as mentioned by Microsoft in a post on the closed beta forums, via Reddit.

Apparently, error codes like 0x21 or 0x87de07d1 are quite common and Microsoft is working on different solutions for all of them.

"The fixes are undergoing testing, along with other changes contained in the next update, which will take a few days to complete. The next update is planned to also include several fixes for issues that the preview audience has identified in the forums. Thank you for your patience and continued effort in finding additional bugs that you are reporting on these forums."

Until fixes appear for these problems, Microsoft has highlighted some of the workarounds and solutions found by other beta participants.

More specifically, those who get the upcoming error message: "Check your disc. Your disc may be dirty or damaged. Try cleaning it, or choose a different disc. (0x21)," are advised to try out several things.

First up, a power cycle of the Xbox One is needed, which means pressing and holding the power button on the console for five seconds. You can also try to eject and reinsert the disc.

For another error, code 0x87de07d1, a different workaround is required, so check it out below.

"When trying to play a game, or while in the middle of playing a game, the game is stopped and an error is shown asking 'Do you own this game or app? If you have a game disc, insert it now. If there is no disc, make sure you are signed in to Xbox Live. If you do not have the rights to play this, you will need to buy it at the Xbox Store (0x87de07d1)'."

"This error is resolved by doing a full console power down (pressing and holding the power button on the console for 5 seconds. ActionHank77 commented that signing out of his profile, then changing games, then signing back in worked for him without needing a full system power," the forum post reads.

Given these new problems, it's going to take a while before the April Xbox One firmware update is ready for launch.
