The Xbox 360 version of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is now out and publisher Namco Bandai says that the game is much more than a simple port because of all the new content CD Projekt RED has added to the experience.

Lee Kirton, who is the marketing leader of Namco Bandai in the United Kingdom, has told VG247 that, “It’s very important that it wasn’t just the standard game made for Xbox 360. This is not a port. That is an important point.

“All the content was brought onto the Xbox 360 and developed specifically along with this incredible extra content. The plan was also not to deliver extra digital content and over four hours or extra gameplay, but all-new physical content and 16 different endings.”

He added, “The new cut-scenes, new CGI intro, extra quests, characters fill in a lot of gaps that maybe a non-player of this universe can understand. It was important to develop the most comprehensive RPG with some of the most richest mature storytelling witnessed in this genre.”

Kirton said that he had been working with the team at CD Projekt RED since they were collaborating with Atari in 2007 on the first Witcher video game.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, which was launched on the PC during 2011, is one of the most interesting role-playing games currently on the market, mixing a well-developed main character, Geralt, with solid storytelling, interesting choices and attractive combat mechanics.

As the Xbox 360 version of the game launches, PC gamers get access to the 2.0 update for the game, which adds two new lengthy quests, a new tutorial, improved gameplay mechanics and a number of fixed bugs.

The 2.0 version of The Witcher 2 is offered for free to all those who have previously bought the game.
