OK, dragons are popular, we've got it already!

Honestly, this must be the third dragon-based game I'm writing about today. Two of today's dragon games involve Nintendo's DS, one being an adaptation of the old 1983 Dragon's Lair from Cinematronics. Now, the Xbox 360 is getting 'Blue Dragon.' Not red, not black, not double, but blue! Let's say it's true that kids these days dream of being dragons. Do you reckon they even have color preferences...?

The official report I'm reading here says that Microsoft's Game Studios today announced that "the highly anticipated role-playing game Blue Dragon" is set to go on sale throughout Europe on 24th August , retailing for around ?44.99, being rated 12+. Uuu, that means it's a serious title. They also say that this great RPG will feature a combination of realistic environments, "anime-styled characters, unique battles and a deep, compelling storyline." Honestly, are the battles unique?

Anyway, the game may just prove to be something else in the end, as the top Japanese developing talent Hironobu Sakaguchi has been assigned to carry out most of the work. As for the character design, Akira Toriyama, will be handling the lines and curves. He designed Dragon Ball Z, just so you can make an idea. Last, but not least, the RPG's score will be handled by Nobuo Uematsu, the composer of "Final Fantasy", so as you can see, nothing but the best for Blue Dragon. Really now, are there no other ancient/prehistoric animals/creatures more exciting than dragons?

Basically, gamers will have a lot of exploring and discovering to do in the vast world of Blue Dino... eh, Blue Dragon (sorry, I just hate the name) as they assume the role of Shu, a young boy who along with his band of four friends, embarks on a quest to combat the evil forces that have come to their world. As the description goes on, "these unlikely heroes possess miraculous strength and the magical power to control their phantom shadow creatures that range from a Minotaur to a phoenix to a dragon and more." Yesuree Bob, Minotaurs and phoenixes! Now we're talking.

There's more on the game right here on this site, and apparently there's a Fan Site Kit to be downloaded too, so by all means, do check it out! One more question (and I hope I'm not exaggerating here): could this game's name by any chance be a "working title..."?
