Indian mobile phone maker XOLO is getting ready for the release of Android 4.4.2 KitKat for all of its XOLO Q700s devices, and is currently rolling out a test build of the platform.

To be more precise, the company has decided to push out a beta flavor of the OS upgrade, which is meant to provide users with a glimpse of the enhancements included in it, while also expecting feedback on the various bugs that might still be present in the platform.

Given the fact that this is not a final platform release, we can imagine that some people won’t be interested in downloading and installing it, but many will certainly want to take it for a spin.

For them, all the necessary installation instructions are available on this page. A download link for the beta OS upgrade is available via said webpage as well.

However, we should note that the installation process of this beta software release is pretty straightforward, as users will need to grab the file, rename it to update.zip, load it on the phone, and then open the XOLO Care app to install the update.

XOLO has not provided specific info on how long it intends to test the new operating system flavor, but it has said that the final release will arrive soon after the beta program is concluded.

The Android 4.4.2 KitKat update will provide owners of XOLO Q700s devices with a nice range of enhancements, including an immersive mode, integration with Cloud Storage, and emoji support on Google Keyboard.

Moreover, as a recent article on AndroidOS reads, the new operating system iteration comes with album art on lock-screen, while also offering music playback controls there.

It will also deliver an upgraded Hangouts app, which includes support for SMS and MMS, and will allow users to change the default SMS app on their smartphones.

Following the update, XOLO Q700s owners will also see that it is easier to switch between home screens, and that a brand-new email application is available for them.

The Downloads client has been redesigned, and there are also a series of new camera features, including burst shot, Panorama + multi view, and live photo mode.

Moreover, the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update arrives with new Location modes and monitoring, as well as with secure app sandboxes, which have been hardened with Security-Enhanced Linux.

XOLO confirmed not long ago that KitKat would be coming to a series of smartphones in its lineup, and the company has already started rolling out the update to Q1010 and Q1010i users.
