We reported a few days ago that XOLO planned to launch a new mid-range Android smartphone dubbed Q2500 PocketPad, though no details on the release date was available at that time.

Well, it appears that XOLO Q2500 PocketPad has just gone official and is expected to go on sale at multiple online retailers in India in the coming days for only Rs 14,999 outright, which is about $250 or €180.

The official announcement confirms the previous information regarding the price, so those who have already read our previous article won’t be surprised by the phone’s price tag. As AndroidOS points out, the smartphone will only be available in the black color option.

The phone’s main selling point is the huge 6-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

According to the Indian OEM, “XOLO Q2500 PocketPad comes with an expansive 6 inch HD IPS screen that offers a more realistic visual experience. The sprawling screen offers more room for e-reading, watching movies and gaming along with a larger keypad for typing, thereby making it a true entertainment device.”

Another interesting fact about XOLO’s Q2500 PocketPad is that it comes with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, but the Indian company has confirmed that it will offer an Android 4.4.2 KitKat upgrade soon.

Indian OEMs aren’t known for delivering major Android updates for their smartphones, so XOLO’s statement may be just a marketing stunt meant to attract more customers into buying their new phablet.

However, the Q2500 PocketPad has pretty decent specs and even if XOLO doesn’t upgrade the smartphone in the future, it might still be worth the money.

Thus, XOLO has confirmed that the Q2500 PocketPad phablet will be equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor, a Mali 400MP2 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

The phablet will pack only 4GB of storage, but users will be able to further expand internal memory via microSD card slot (up to 32GB).

It is also worth mentioning that the XOLO Q2500 PocketPad offers dual-SIM capability (GSM / GSM), as well as 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

On the back, the smartphone boasts an enhanced 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, BSI sensor and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front, there’s a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls.

XOLO has also confirmed that the phablet is powered by a high-capacity 3000 mAh battery and comes packed with FM Radio feature, GPS with A-GPS and a free flip cover that can be used as a stand as well.
