Mobile phone maker XOLO, part of Lava International, is gearing up for the release of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software update for its smartphones in India, it seems.

The company has already confirmed such plans, and even said that users would start receiving the new software in a matter of days.

Furthermore, the company also explained that the new platform release would be delivered to devices over-the-air, although not all handsets in the company’s lineup will get a taste of it.

Apparently, the recently launched Atom-based XOLO X1000 and the XOLO A1000 smartphones might get a taste of the update, along with XOLO X500, another device from the company to pack an Intel processor.

“We will be releasing the Android Jelly Bean 4.1 update in next few days for some of our smartphones and it will be available over the air,” a spokesperson for XOLO Mobiles said, according to The Mobile Indian.

“We don't want our smartphone users to waste their time and energy in first locating the nearest center and then getting their smartphone upgrade when technology can do it remotely.”

The availability of the update straight on handsets should prove an appealing feature to users, especially since most local handset vendors provide them with updates only through their service centers in the country.

The Mobile Indian also notes that XOLO has already released the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade for some of its devices, but it did so through its service locations, and not OTA as it announced now.

At the moment, XOLO has seven smartphones available for purchase in India, though chances are that only the aforementioned three will be upgraded to the newer platform release. The company has yet to specify which devices are bound to taste the platform upgrade, so stay tuned to learn some more info on the matter.
