Sub-machine gun card will shoot down the competition

Now that NVIDIA has finally introduced its first DirectX 11-capable graphics adapters, the GeForce GTX 400 series, it would definitely make sense to expect XFX to debut its own, personalized models. Apparently, XFX itself is well aware of these expectations but seems to have decided to use this attention for a different purpose. While no official announcement has been made, a number of leaked photos show what will not be the GF100 cards but an adapter known as the Radeon HD 5970 4GB Eyefinity 6 Black Edition.

As its name implies, the upcoming XFX adapter will be a superpowered version of the already overpowered dual-GPU Radeon HD 5970. The product was already previewed at CeBIT, though it lacked the rather unusual package it has now, and, according to the report, will be a limited edition item.

Unfortunately, there is no word on the actual clock speeds, though they should be of at least 850MHz for each GPU and 4800MHz for the memory. Of course, this is just speculation, as the specs may very well be different. There is, however, one unique element of the product that will likely make it stand out.

What the XFX 4GB HD 5970 Eyefinity 6 Black Edition will have over all its competitors is a gun. A sub-machine gun, to be exact. The graphics card maker seems to have decided that shooting its way to the top works, at least in this instance. Specifically, the device will ship with a package shaped like a sub-machine gun, which seems to say a lot about how the card is expected to perform when faced with similar projects from competitors.

The graphics adapter will be a premium item and, thus, will be out in a limited number and accordingly priced, at $1,000, to be precise. Unfortunately, the availability of the product will have to remain shrouded in mystery, at least for now.
