AMD's latest DirectX 11 card, the Radeon HD 5670, is the company's offering for the $100 price point. Of course, besides the model released by Advanced Micro Devices, custom versions of the card have been launched by a number of hardware makers, such as MSI, Gigabyte, PowerColor, HIS and Club 3D. Joining the crowd is XFX that distinguishes itself from its peers through the sheer number of board models, namely three 512MB and three 1GB versions for a total of six high-performance but affordable graphics solutions.

According to XFX, the $100 price “is transforming not only how the game is played, but who’s playing it.” The HD 5670 cards that XFX has released are designed for end-users interested in “an immersive 3D gaming experience as well as powerful content and entertainment capabilities.” The six adapters have stock clock speeds of 775MHz for the GPU, of 4000MHz for the memory, and deliver “the ultimate work/play punch.”

The DirectCompute 11, ATI PowerPlay technology and 40 nm process technology all help the card deliver significant performance gains. The high memory and powerful GPU can handle gaming and video content with ease and offer a high level of immersion through support of DirectX 11 graphics. Characters look realistic, the 3D detail is unparalleled and the HDR texture compression enables this rendering without requiring an intense memory footprint. This allows for the high efficiency that enables the card to not need any additional power besides that provided by the PCI Express slot.

One of the significant features of AMD's latest cards is the ATI EyeFinity technology, which enables triple-display scenarios. In addition, the ATI Stream technology can can make it “a snap to edit digital video or create high-quality HD home movies,” even being able to help “convert HD video files up to five times faster than the CPU alone.”

The XFX ATI Radeon HD 5670 can play back Blu-Ray content in resolutions beyond 1080p and enhance the overall experience through the ATI Avivo technology and Unified Video Decoder 2 (UVD 2) features. In addition, all aspects of the performance can be significantly increased by setting up CrossFireX configurations.

The XFX ATI Radeon HD 5670 graphics cards will be priced at around $100 and should reach stores shortly. Newegg is already listing the XFX HD-567X-YNFC Radeon HD 5670 512MB for $99.99.
