14 DAY TRIAL // When the cameras are rolling, they almost seem like best friends, but reports continue to transpire in the press that X Factor hopefuls Cher Lloyd and Katie Waissel are anything but that when no one’s watching.
In fact, Closer magazine writes, they’re fighting all the time and have become extremely tiresome for the others to be around. Their feuding is also causing friction with the other contestants.
The exact reason why the two are constantly at each other’s throat is not clear but one may as well assume that being on the show and competing for the same title may be enough.
“Katie’s like Marmite – you either love her or hate her. The problem is, Katie is very confident and doesn’t always see eye-to-eye with people,” a friend of Katie’s is quoted as saying.
It’s not just Katie’s character that gets stuff started with Cher, Closer says; she’s very determined to win X Factor precisely because she’s been getting so much negative media, and, understandably, she thinks Cher is in her way.
“Apparently, Katie is in fact very upset by the negative publicity she has been getting, but according to sources she is determined to become famous and will not give up until she has achieved it,” Closer writes.
“Despite rumors of her wanting to pull out, it has been said that this is not the case; the negative press is only making her more determined,” the mag claims.
On the other hand, there’s Cher: she’s young and thinks the world of herself. She’s also not diplomatic enough to avoid a conflict and has made a purpose of showing Katie she believes she should win X Factor.
“Cher’s determined to win it, no matter what. It seems she’s deliberately put a wedge between herself and the others. She’s not there to make friends,” another source dishes for the same publication.
“She started wearing quite a lot of make-up and making her hair big because she got attention. It makes her feel... that no one can mess with her,” adds the spy.
Both Katie and Cher are favorites to win this year’s X Factor, so reports of feuding should probably not come as a surprise, even if they’re not accurate.
