Speaking to the co-author of a book titled ‘iWoz: How I Invented the Personal Computer and Had Fun Along the Way’, Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak weighed in on the sudden resignation of Apple’s boss this week, saying the man was in need of a break.

Gina Smith, editor-in-chief at BYTE and co-author of the aforementioned book about Steve Wozniak, had a chat with America’s favorite geek minutes into Apple’s announcement that Jobs had resigned, leaving his seat to Tim Cook.

In Wozniak’s opinion, "He [Jobs] really has had to sacrifice a lot to run Apple."

“I mean, just your time, everybody wants you day and night, that's what I mean by sacrifices. It takes so much out of anyone to be under just constant pressure and demands like that,” he said.

"Steve needs now to just have some 'Steve time,' Wozniak added. "He deserves it."

For those wondering whether Steve Jobs’ departure will have an impact on Apple’s culture, or the aesthetic of the whole company, Wozniak has some good news. In his opinion, nothing much is going to change in the near future.

"You've got to remember. He [Jobs] was surrounded by great, great people at Apple ... and those people are still there," Wozniak said.

"I don't think the core Apple culture will change because of (Jobs') leaving, not for a long time. Apple is set up. It just needs to stay financially responsible."

Wozniak is not the only one who believes Apple is in good hands, even with Jobs only acting as Chairman of the Board now.

“The Board has complete confidence that Tim [Cook] is the right person to be our next CEO,” said Art Levinson, Chairman of Genentech, who spoke on behalf of Apple's Board yesterday.

“Tim’s 13 years of service to Apple have been marked by outstanding performance, and he has demonstrated remarkable talent and sound judgment in everything he does,” Levinson said.

Levinson added that, as Chairman of Apple’s Board of Directors, “Steve will continue to serve Apple with his unique insights, creativity and inspiration.”
