As some of you will certainly remember, Samsung touted a few weeks ago a new 3D Blu-ray player that they considered to be the world's slimmest, and now, the Korean company has decided to finally unveil it officially, on the first day of CES 2011. The BD-D7500, as this new model is officially called, is just 0.9-inch thick and, beside being able to play back 3D content stored on 3D Blu-ray discs, it also offers 2D-to-3D conversion capabilities, with the help of the dedicated Samsung video processor.

Moreover, the same processor can also be used for upconverting standard-definition videos to Full HD, but that's last year's technology, after all.

The unit also offers built-in Wi-Fi and Smart Blu-ray features, plus Samsung’s patented One Foot Connection, which allows devices to also be accessed and controlled via the BD-D7500.

Additionally, the super-slim BD-D7500 3D Blu-ray player from Samsung also sports an ultra-fast start-up time, of just around three seconds, due to the new Ultra Fast Play function.

“The increase in available 3D content in 2011 will result in more people embracing 3D. In the meantime, people can enjoy the breadth of features offered via Samsung’s Smart Blu-ray and the option to up-convert content with our 2D-to-3D conversion,” said Sangchul Lee, Senior Vice President, Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.

“As more people look to upgrade their home entertainment systems and embrace a rich, immersive 3D experience, Samsung is able to offer a wide range of options that support their needs today and into the future,” the company's rep concluded.

Of course, if you were hoping to get some pricing and availability details for this thing, think again, since Samsung kept quite mum on these topics, much in the same way it did in the case of its other products revealed at CES 2011.
