Marks & Spencer's sofa took several years to design and manufacture

Sustainable furniture is pretty fashionable these days, hence the fact that several companies are doing their best to please potential customers by offering them products that both suit their needs and are environmentally-friendly.

To prove its commitment to the environment and its determination to satisfy its customers, Marks & Spencer has launched a sofa which it says is the world's most sustainable.

Check it out in the picture above.

Business Green say that the stuffing inside the sofa's arm padding and seat cushions is made from coconuts. No need to worry about injuring any precious body parts when sitting on it, though.

This is because the company merely took fibers from coconuts and blended them with natural latex in order to obtain a stuffing that acts similarly to PU foam, but trumps it as far as eco-friendliness goes.

The same source informs us that the sofa's back cushions are made from polyester made from recycled plastic.

Bottom line, there is no need to worry that your comfort comes at the expense of the environment.

The sofa is expected to hit stores in October. It will sell for £899 (€1,060 / $1,382).
