It adds displays to desktops and mobile systems, cheaply

Normally, in order to set up a good computer or entertainment system with more than one display, people need high-end graphics cards with more than one video port, maybe multi-GPU configurations while they're at it.

Sadly, such things cost money. A lot of money. And there aren't many alternatives, beyond Matrox multi-display adapters and the like.

Club 3D decided that this was unacceptable, so it took matters into its own hands and created the world's first Multi Stream Transport (MST) Hub.

Essentially, it takes the bandwidth of a Displayport 1.2 output (which is considerable) and splits the signal into three separate signals.

In layman terms, one DisplayPort 1.2 connector becomes three, and passive adapters can even be used to transform the resulting DP connectors into VGA, HDMI or DVI.

In addition to home use, the Club 3D MST Hub could come in handy at work. For example, corporate executives can increase their productivity.

It all boils down to the better multitasking allowed by applications and/or multimedia applications to run at the same time, only each on different screens.

For those who want the specifications, Club 3D has set up a fairly comprehensive product page on its official website.

The three displays can be arrayed in landscape or portrait position. They don't even all need to be arrayed in the same way.

Interestingly, Club 3D suggests that it might be doubly useful to buy two MST Hub adapters and connect them both to AMD Radeon graphics cards with dual-DVI design. That way, six monitors can be hooked up, all without Eyefinity (AMD's own multi-display technology).

See the product page we linked to, or watch the video we embedded below for more information. Sadly we don't yet know the price. Hopefully, sales will start in days instead of weeks, and this last bit of info will be public.
