One of the world's most sought-after eating champion titles is still strong on the hands of a security officer from Wigan. Ian Coulton is the world's fastest pie-eater, scoffing his meal in just one minute and a few seconds.

The town of Wigan is proud to be home of one of the world's famous people and to take praise in the fact that the man has a locally developed talent. The Bradley Piggins Trophy was chased by 19 pie-eaters who came even from Australia to participate in this year's World Pie Eating Championship.

Ian thought he did not stand a chance in this year's competition, but surprisingly he still remains a fast eater.

“I was surprised to win. I thought I had a good chance but didn't think I was the favorite. At one stage I didn't think I was going to win but I really enjoyed the whole thing,” the winner says, according to Wigan Today.

The fastest pie-eater of 2013 trophy will proudly stand on the mantelpiece, next to Ian's signed Lancashire cricket bat. The man is very happy with his award, even if he knows it doesn't really count as a carrier portfolio thing, but it feels good when people appreciate it.

The World Pie Eating Championship was held in Harry's bar in Wigan and the participants had to eat a pie measuring 4.7 inch (12 centimeters) in diameter and 1.4 inch (3.5 centimeters) deep stuffed with beef and potato filling.

If any of the participants were a vegetarian, it could have been arranged to serve no-meat pies. The well-deserved prize was a beautiful trophy and a free lunch at the bar.

Before 2006, the competition's winner was the one who ate the most pies during a specific amount of time, but because of government healthy eating guidelines, the rules had to be changed, and in order to keep the competition, the organizers switched quantity with speed.
