Word leaked out that various guild leaders had started receiving emails from Blizzard, asking them to bring a couple of their guild mates along for a raiding spree in the Outlands. In short, Blizzard is getting ready to start a full scale closed beta test for the upcoming Burning Crusade expansion. While heavily excited, fans were worried to get their hopes high as this might very well be a hoax. Official World of Warcraft forums saw a response from Blizzard poster Nethaera, clearing things up with details revealing how, and who was receiving invites.

For one thing, the Burning Crusade closed beta has not yet started. Secondly, the extensive testing session targets a wide array of participants, with varying playing styles to cover for all of the game's aspects. BlizzCon attendants will have a chance to use their pass-codes for the beta, along with PTR winners, raiding groups, individuals and even full guilds. In light of the past experience with World of Warcraft beta, Nethaera mentioned that contacting Blizzard about getting a spot will not help. With nine million active subscribers, it appears die-hard fans will try it by the thousands anyway. People interested in a sneak peak at the new content should keep in mind that additional players will join the beta in subsequent testing phases. As determined above, participants have been already picked and are expected to be contacted in due time. However, be sure to watch out for scammers, as Blizzard employees will never ask for your password or account information in order to get you accepted.
