New features, bugfixes and server downtime

The latest major patch to "World of Warcraft" - version 1.10 - caused some problems that have affected the servers going back online as quickly as planned.

Blizzard has implemented eight previous major patches, the most recent being version 1.09 in January. But while the company requires server downtime for its patches and maintenance procedures, today's implementation caught it off guard.

The main "World of Warcraft" Web site was also experiencing extended delays, however it had more to do with the site being slammed by users seeking the patch than any kind of technological problem.

The latest update, Patch 1.10, known as the Storms of Azeroth, will bring a lot of new features such as the 'XP for Gold' feature, enabling those who've reached the current level peak the chance to get even richer, several new flight paths for those with tired feet, new epic armor sets and a significant overhaul of the Priest Class, with changes to many of the spells and a reduction in price for many talents in general.

A number of bugs have been corrected with the introduction of Patch 1.10, together with an update to the User Interface. The developer is advising that subscribers experiencing problems should delete the Interface folder from their computers before contacting WoW Game Masters.
