Lineage is still the leader

World of Warcraft was launched last year and has succeeded in a very short time to enlist a large number of fans and to become one of this year's hits.

In less than one year, (in fact 8 months) Blizzard, the developer of this online marvel, announces that it has sold 600,000 copies of World of Warcraft in North America, Australia and New Zeeland. The company announces that it set a new record of simultaneously connected players: 200,000.

The hysteria started by World of Warcraft went even beyond the borders of the virtual space (financially speaking), Blizzard being forced to block the access of thousands of players who were selling resources (gold farming) to other gamers for real money.

Currently, the number of WoW subscribers has reached, according to Blizzard, two million, the users being spread in North America, New Zeeland, Korea and Europe. Still, the record for number of gamers is owned by Lineage 2, developed by NCsoft, but because WoW will also be launched in other countries, nobody knows who will be in pole position after a few months.

Still, at least for now, the game remains compatible only with PC/Mac systems, but there are rumors about a partnership with Microsoft whose objective will be to port the title on Xbox 360.
