The hugely successful World of Warcraft MMORPG is set to get its third expansion this December, in the form of Cataclysm, so Blizzard has just decided to unveil the minimum and recommend PC systems requirements.

World of Warcraft has just reached the impressive 12 million paying subscriber milestone earlier this month, and that number is set to increase with the launch of Cataclysm in December.

As such, the company is busy preparing the game and gamers for the arrival of the new expansion.

It has updated the regular version of World of Warcraft with patch 4.0.1, and it has now released the minimum and the recommended PC systems specifications for the upcoming launch of Cataclysm.

You won't find any big requirements though, as the list is pretty much the same one as the one for the previous expansion Wrath of the Lich King.

Minimum systems specs:

Windows XP 32bit (SP3), Windows XP 64bit (SP2), Windows Vista 32bit (SP1), Windows Vista 64bit (SP1): Intel Pentium 4 1.3 GHz or AMD Athlon XP 1500 1GB or more of RAM NVIDIA GeForce FX or ATI Radeon 9500 video card or better DirectX-compatible sound card or motherboard sound capability 25 GB free hard drive space You must have an active broadband Internet connection to play

Recommended specs:

Windows XP 32bit (SP3), Windows XP 64bit (SP2), Windows Vista 32bit (SP1), Windows Vista 64bit (SP1) Windows 7: Dual-core processor, such as the Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 X2 2 GB RAM (2 GB for Vista users) 3D graphics processor with Vertex and Pixel Shader capability with 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600 or ATI Radeon 2600 or better DirectX-compatible sound card or motherboard sound capability Broadband Internet connection Multi-button mouse with scroll wheel recommended

As you can see, the requirements aren't like the ones for Call of Duty: Black Ops, as Blizzard wants to keep World of Warcraft accessible to any player running on almost any type of computer.

World of Warcraft will get the Cataclysm update on December 7, which will change some of the areas of the virtual land of Azeroth, as well as open up new playable races and add new systems to the overall gameplay.
