We live in a full retro era, with classic titles being more appreciated than current-gen releases, which is not necessarily a bad thing. After all, some of today's games really deserve to be slapped by these classics since they seem to do everything wrong. SNK Playmore and Ignition Entertainment have teamed up in order to bring us an anthology of World Heroes games for the PlayStation 2, a collection of four classic titles which will be released this fall.

The four titles are World Heroes, World Heroes 2, World Heroes Jet and World Heroes Perfect or, in other words, the entire franchise in just one set. All these fighting games will bring you the classic experience of taking part into the biggest combat tournament of all time: travel through time and battle against all your enemies!

"World Heroes is a franchise that has remained a favorite amongst SNK fans," said Peter Rollinson, Product Manager, Ignition Entertainment. "With its diverse and sometimes recognizable array of fighters, World Heroes Anthology can also be enjoyed by all fighting game fans in general."

For those who like statistics and are impressed by the numbers, finding out that World Heroes Anthology brings players no less than 56 characters will be great news. Also, each of the titles in the franchise has its own innovative features, such as the Death Matches, counter throws and repelling moves (as well as adjustable speed settings), a Tournament of Titans game mode and, finally, a three-button special move. Also, if you kind of lost your skills since you last played any of the games, the PS2 version will offer you the chance to go for a training session and remember how to pack those deadly punches.

All the World Heroes games come with the same story: a scientist, Dr. Brown, has perfected a time machine and starts a tournament for various fighters throughout all history to combat one another. Most of the fighters you'll meet in the game are based on true characters such as Bruce Lee, Hulk Hogan, Rasputin, Jeanne D'Arc and many others.
