Now that Ubuntu MATE 15.04 has been released, the developers are already looking towards next release and it looks like the wheels are already in motion.

Most developers working on their operating system don't usually ask the community for help, but as we've seen until now, the Ubuntu MATE project is not your average one. They've done some amazing work, and they have relied on the community more than once, not to mention the fact that they also gave back. A few developers already received donations from the Ubuntu MATE project, and that is not something you can see every day.

Ubuntu MATE 15.04 was a big improvement over the previous releases, and its makers have added a few cool new features, which we detailed in a previous article. Now, devs have already started to make some changes and a new cycle.

Ubuntu MATE 15.10 is already in the works

Developers won't usually take a long vacation after a significant release. In fact, they continue to work on their project like the latest release was just a disturbance in their regular schedule. Most of the time, they don't even waste a single day.

Martin Wimpress, one of the devs on the Ubuntu MATE project, mentioned in a Google+ post that a new version of Folder Color has been released and the changes in that new version will be visible soon in MATE and Nemo.

Each Ubuntu development cycle takes six months, and the 15.10 branch is expected to arrive in October, 2015. Now that Ubuntu MATE is an official flavor, it will share the same release date with all the others, such as Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and so on.

Ubuntu MATE is already a very popular distro, and it feels complete, so it will be very interesting to see what will change in the few months.
