WordPress.com has upgraded the amount of space you can buy for your blog, all of the amounts have doubled while the price stays the same. WordPress.com blogs get about 3GB of storage for free. Anyone that needs more than that has to pay.

Until now, the upgrades started at 5 GB and went all the way up to 100 GB. All of the paid tiers have now doubled the amount of space allotted.

"To celebrate the New Year we decided to offer you more space for your precious media," WordPress.com announced.

"If you already subscribed to one or more of these upgrades ( yes, they are cumulative ), your total available space has been automatically updated as you can see in your Media Library," it explained.

The smallest paid storage upgrade now offers 10 GB of space for $19.97, €15.51  per year. The tiers go up to 25 GB for $49.97, €38.82, 50 GB for $89.97, €69.90, 100 GB for $159.97, €124.28, and 200 GB for $289.97, €225.28.

The paid storage options should be enough for all but the most dedicated bloggers and comes especially handy for those that regularly upload media files, audio files, video, high-resolution photos and so on.

Note that you need the VideoPress upgrade to be able to upload video files, even if you pay for storage.

Those that have been subscribing to the paid storage options should already have access to the new space, they don't have to do anything.

For those wanting to upgrade to a paid storage option, or increase the amount they have, the feature is now available in the Store section of the Dashboard. You can check out how much more space you have available in the Media > Library section of the Dashboard.
