Women are crazy about jewelry in general and rings in particular, but I guess they never thought they could make a unique ring all by themselves using just a box of colored pencils.

A handy craftsman from California by the name of Peter Brown has shown than a carton of wooden pencils can be used to create a simple but stylish and original piece of wooden jewelry.

Brown, who is a computer geek by day and a woodworker by night, says his passion is working with wood, metal, and other materials, so he gets very creative when it comes to exploring their artistic possibilities. And all his creations are custom and exquisitely handmade.

The creation process for the pencil ring is so simple that anyone could do it, assuming they have the tools. According to Bored Panda, Brown started by gluing all of the pencils together after he arranged them in a random order. He then drilled a hole through and roughly cut around the ring to get rid of the excess wood. The next step was putting the ring on a lathe to smooth and polish the outside part of the jewelry.

To finish the design, he added lacquer to give the ring a nice, glossy coat. The result is a nice cross-section of the pencils with all colors of the rainbow.
