A woman's love for her dog might have just saved her life. After failing to hear from her for a couple of days, friends of 76-year-old Mary Davis went to her house, only to find her trapped inside a 25-gallon plastic recycling tank, essentially folded in half. She most likely got thrown off her feet by her dog Dusty and landed in the container, from which she then found it impossible to get out. According to the police, she is now in good health, and will recover in short time.

The woman has been found in her Pemberton, New Jersey house, inside her own garage. Only her hands and feet have been sticking out of the massive container, which is large enough to fit a fully-grown man. Because she is old, Mary Davis didn't have enough force to set herself free after she fell inside the bin, and so she just lingered there for two whole days, hoping that someone would notice her absence and come look for her. Friends say that all the doors to her house were locked and that this fact made them look in the garage as well.

The police, which have been called on the scene, share that the woman's life has been probably saved by her love for her dog, which she doesn't allow to sleep in the house. Rather, she keeps Dusty in the garage, where she has installed a heater for him. If the device hadn't been turned on, authorities believe, the woman would have most likely frozen to death in her own home.

“Today I just got up this morning. I couldn't get her so I said I dug myself out and I said let me go see if I can find her. And there she was feet and hands sticking in the air with a little voice that called out, she says I'm here, I'm here and I went and got blankets,” Michele Ayala, Davis' neighbor and long-time friend, reveals. She and the police could only get the door open after her 14-year-old son entered the premises via the small plastic door Dusty regularly uses.

After being “extracted” from the recycle bin, Mary Davis was immediately transported to the Virtua Memorial Hospital, though authorities tell that she was “responsive and happy” after her rescue. Still, the old lady was pretty weak, so doctors now have to take good care of her, and get her on her feet again. On a side note, it's amazing in how many ways a person's love for their animals can repay them.
