Zippers can sometimes be quite tricky, but, unless they start pulling themselves up and down on their own accord with no apparent reason, one should probably refrain themselves from calling the police or firefighters, and asking for help with them.

While many people are likely to wholeheartedly agree with this piece of advice, it would appear that there are some who think of a stubborn zipper as a perfectly good reason to call 911.

Long story short, it was not very long ago when a man in Washington County in Oregon, US, dialed 911 and demanded that somebody come help his wife get undressed.

According to the The Oregonian, the woman had put on a coat that she very much liked. When attempting to take it off, she found that the zipper was stuck and that she was therefore unable to free herself.

The husband did his best to help her but, since the zipper was dead set on not moving even an inch up or down, he soon realized that he needed reinforcements.

At this point, he picked up the phone and called 911. Apparently, the conversation he had with the operator who took the call went like this:

“OPERATOR: 911, Police Fire and Medical. CALLER: Yeah, we got a problem here. My wife is struggling in her jacket and can't get it off. I want 911 here immediately.”

Furthermore, “OPERATOR: Is she not breathing? CALLER: She's alright, she just can't get her [expletive] jacket off.”

What's even funnier than the fact that somebody called 911 asking for help with a zipper is the operator's decision to actually send someone help the couple instead of just hanging up on the man.

Thus, firefighters paid the two a home visit, and managed to pull down the zipper and free the woman. Apparently, neither she nor her jacket was in any way harmed during the intervention.

The story of how this husband and wife pair had firefighters aid them pull down a zipper was shared with the public as part of the Washington County dispatch agency's “You called 911 for that?!” campaign.
