A 54-year-old woman named Larue Drummond gets people's attention pretty much everywhere she goes, and it's her seriously oversized nails that she has to thank for the fact that, more often than not, people cannot help but stare at her.

The woman's nails, pictured next to this article, measure an impressive 14 inches (35.5 centimeters) in length. Because of their size, they are seriously deformed, meaning that they are all twisted and curved.

The mother of four says that she could not be prouder of her manicure, and admits to spending about 12 hours and £100 (about €125.5 / $168) at her favorite salon on a regular basis just to have them painted and decorated.

Whenever she visits the salon, 54-year-old Larue Drummond has nail specialist Maria Ortiz create intricate designs and patterns on her nails. What's more, she often has her nails coated in colorful rhinestones.

This woman did not always have mind-bogglingly long nails. Thus, when she was a child, she used to bite her nails until her cuticles would start to bleed. It was a woman she met by chance that encouraged her to start taking better care of her manicure.

According to Daily Mail, the mother of four met this mysterious woman in a supermarket when she was about 13 years old, and was quite impressed with her nails. The two chatted for a while, and this conversation changed Larue Drummond forever.

“I plucked up the courage to speak to her and she told me if you look after your nails, they will look after you. From then on I let me nails grow and became obsessed with pampering them,” the 54-year-old says in a recent statement.

In case anyone was wondering (and I'm pretty sure many of you were), Larue Drummond maintains that, despite having freakishly long nails, she has absolutely no trouble doing work around the house. In fact, she claims that her life is no different to that of your regular Joe or Jane.

As the woman put it, “People stop me wherever I go and ask about my nails. I'm always happy to talk about them. The most frequently asked question is how do I go to the bathroom. I tell them, ‘The same way as you do. If you know of another way, let me know.’”

The woman, who currently lives in New Jersey, US, says that she has absolutely no intention to cut her nails, which she likes to call her “babies,” anytime soon. She explains that, were anything bad to happen to any of them, she would surely be devastated.
