14 DAY TRIAL // Dorothy Hunter, who presently lives in Washington, US, is convinced that, contrary to popular assumption (and labels, for that matter), there is absolutely no reason cats and dogs alone should get to enjoy pet food.
The woman claims that, when compared to what your regular Joe and Jane usually put in their plates and then shove down their throats for breakfast, lunch and dinner, pet food is equally tasty and nutritious.
What's more, Dorothy Hunter is convinced that, every once in a while, it can actually happen that a person's dietary choices are worse for their health than the contents of the food they give their pet cats and dogs.
Looking to prove her theory, the woman is now in the middle of a little experiment many would rightfully label as downright bizarre. In a nutshell, Dorothy switched to eating nothing but cat and dog food.
Media reports say it was last month, on June 18, that the woman last enjoyed human food. Starting June 19, Dorothy Hunter turned to eating pet food alone, and she is expected to stick to this diet until this coming July 18.
The woman stresses that, although her currently diet only comprises pet treats, it is important to note that the foods she does put in her mouth all undergo an attentive and thorough screening process which ensures she gets all the nutrients she needs.
“You’d be surprised how tasty dog and cat food can be when it’s made right,” Dorothy Hunter explains during a recent interview with the press, as cited by Metro.
“I know people think this is crazy, but I can’t stress enough how important it is to read labels and see what’s in the food you eat – whether it’s pet food and human food,” the woman goes on to detail on her one-month experiment.
Before anyone starts thinking that this woman's brain could use some tightening of one too many loose screws, some clarifications are in order. Thus, it need be said that Dorothy Hunter owns several pet stores in Washington.
What's more, the woman reportedly takes great pride in the fact that her Paw's Natural Pet Emporium stores only market cat and dog food that is not only a heaven sent gift to cats and dogs' taste buds, but also healthier than the food other pet stores offer their customers.
Simply put, Dorothy Hunter's promise to only eat cat and dog food for only a month can and should be seen as a means to garner some publicity for her pet stores. More so since we, ordinary folks, are expected to just take her word for it that she is only eating pet food and that she is feeling great while on this diet.
