A Florida woman attending a charity event was the lucky recipient of a diamond worth $5,000 (€3,840).

Unluckily, she had no idea and, after the diamond was put in her champagne glass, she swallowed it.

The Tampa Women's Club had arranged for cubic zirconia to be placed in most guests' glasses, except for one, which contained a diamond instead.

When the prize was announced, all glasses had to be searched in order to find out which of them contained the diamond. This is when 80-year-old Miriam had to admit to having downed the contents of her glass.

According to WDSU, Miriam beat 1 in 400 chances to take home the stone.

She rushed to get an X-ray, not realizing that diamonds don't show up on X-rays, but was able to locate it the next day. Attached to this news blog is the result of the colonoscopy that revealed the diamond.
