Michele Kobke from Berlin is 24 years old and, for the past 3 years, she has been wearing corsets non-stop, even at night when she sleeps. Her waist has shrunk by 10 cm (3.9 inches), but she has no intention of stopping wearing them.

At least, not until she gets it down to 38 cm (14.9 inches). She now measures 54 cm (21.2 inches) and, as the video below will show, she’s already disproportionate.

As she explains in the video, wearing corsets for 3 years 24/7 is like a high performance sport for her, in the sense that she must constantly push herself more and more.

Her idol is the woman with the world’s tiniest waist but she has no intention of topping that performance or, at least, not just yet.

Of course, such dedication to what she perceives as her art comes at a very high cost. Because of the corsets, Michele’s muscles are so weakened that she can’t even stand up straight without one.

She also has problems breathing and can’t eat a regular meal. Instead, she eats 10 very small portioned meals throughout the day to make sure she gets the proper nutrients for her body.

Michelle also suffers from digestive problems and her stomach is misshapen.

Despite a doctor’s warning that, if she doesn’t stop wearing corsets now she might never be able to have a normal life, she says she wants to continue in her “mission” until she gets to her “ideal” waistline measurements.

Not even negative reactions from people online and in the street can deter her: she understands why people stare at her or call her names (like “ugly”), but she believes it’s her choice to transform herself and she can make it if she wants.

She believes the upside of said transformation is the fact that her movements are now more “feminine” because she’s always out of breath.

In the end, it seems, beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.
