That's why you should always open the box in store

A woman who thought it would be nice to gift her boyfriend with a PlayStation 4 on Christmas day decided to make her purchase from Target.

Unfortunately, she did not think that it would be wise to also open the box containing the PlayStation 4 console in store. That would have saved her a lot of time and unwanted publicity.

According to CNET, the woman who goes by the name of Sandra Ortiz, bought her boyfriend a PlayStation 4 in good faith, as she did not open the box at the Target store where she acquired it.

Well, it looks like that has proven to be a bad move, as her boyfriend had a very unpleasant surprise when opening the gift from Sandra.

Instead of the much desired PlayStation 4, the man found a couple of Bibles wrapped up in paper and placed where the console should have been.

Now, even if Sandra's boyfriend had received a PlayStation 4 like she intended in the first place, he couldn't have played games because PlayStation Network was down for several days since Christmas.

PSN only came back online a few days ago and those who received PlayStation consoles as Christmas gifts have been able to take advantage of their gaming devices only recently.

Luckily, the package has been eventually replaced with a new one

Still, Sandra's boyfriend initially thought she wanted him to take his mind off gaming, hence the Bibles wrapped in a PlayStation 4 box. However, Sandra told CNN that her boyfriend “said he didn't want the Bibles unless they were autographed by Jesus himself.”

The good news is that the Target store where Sandra made her purchase did not have any issues in replacing the PlayStation 4 package that did not contain any console but a couple of Bibles with a new one with the real thing in it.

“As soon as the guest brought the package back, we immediately apologized for any inconvenience and exchanged it for a new one,” a Target rep confirmed.

This isn't the first time these things happen, but people still don't seem to learn from other individuals’ mistakes. It would be much easier if customers who purchase valuable products actually opened the box in store. It saves you from a lot of trouble later on in case the box doesn't contain what you've paid for.
