New development cycle towards Wolvix 1.0.5

Jun 26, 2006 00:54 GMT  ·  By

Wolvix team has just released an alpha version of what will become Wolvix 1.0.5 distro: "I've just uploaded the wolvix-cub-1.0.5-alpha1.iso to the FTP server. If you are interested in helping me test it, download the ISO and give it a spin. Wolvix|Cub is a smaller version of Wolvix which should fit on a 256MB USB stck. The cub version will serve as the base for the 'full' Wolvix 1.0.5 which I'll start building next. This is an ALPHA release and still has some rough edges, it's only intended for testing."

You can read more in the full announcement here.

The next version of Wolvix (1.0.5) is going to be based on Slax 5.1.6, will come in one "edition" like Wolvix 1.0.0 - 1.0.3 and will include applications from both Desktop and Media Edition of the actual version. The next version after 1.0.5 will be 1.1.0 and it will come in three (or maybe more) editions, like the actual version, 1.0.4.

About Wolvix:

Wolvix is a GNU/Linux LiveCD built on top of the SLAX distro. It's a desktop-oriented distribution, made to fit the needs of regular and even advanced desktop users.

I've downloaded it and gave it a spin. I will mention only some interesting new applications I saw:

■ SeaMonkey ■ Geany ■ Comix ■ Audacious ■ xCHM
