20th Century Fox released the final trailer for “X-Men: Days of Future Past” just a short while ago, but that’s not to say fans shouldn’t expect more goodies until May 23, when the film finally comes out in theaters.

That’s because Fox has found a new gimmick to promote it: character trailers, which are like the video siblings to character posters. Today, it’s Wolverine who’s taking center stage, as you can see in the teaser embedded below.

Fans of the franchise probably know already that it’s in Wolverine’s clawed hands that the fate of mutants and humans alike lies, as he’s sent back in time to alter a future that spells complete destruction for the entire world. Hence, the name of the film.

This new video highlights his abilities, but also includes some new footage with the other mutants, like the young and old versions of Professor X and a heartbreaking shot of a solitary tear streaming down Mystique’s cheek.

It might not be too inviting to non-fans, but it’s pretty neat, because it combines plenty of action with Logan’s trademark humor and some drama for good measure as well.

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” also stars Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, and many others, and is directed by Bryan Singer.
