A truly innovative car lighting system from VisualEyes

Poor visibility at night is a common complaint among drivers, particularly in adverse weather. Quite obviously, many different configurations of auxiliary lights that address this problem are available on the market, and this is exactly the type of system we'll talk about as follows, namely the Rayzer, coming from the Swedish company VisualEyes.

The concept was developed by Swedish driving school instructor Lars Svelander, a former race car driver. The idea came after a near miss with a deer while commuting at night between Sweden and Norway. "We began the Rayzer project for a very simple reason - to make driving at night safer for everyone," said Svelander.

The Rayzer is mounted on the inside of the windshield right behind the rear-view mirror. This position, combined with Rayzer's small size, keeps it from disturbing the driver's field of vision. Furthermore, Rayzer's higher placement gives drivers considerably better illumination, while the fact that the system employs HID Xenon technology allows it to provide three times better visibility than standard halogen bulb, not to mention a higher level of visual comfort.

The lamp has a life-span of around 3,000 hours, which means that one won't have to worry about changing it for around 5 years. Furthermore, if the light level needs to be modified, Rayzer's two lamps can be adjusted in height and breadth with the turn of a knob either before starting or while driving.

Another interesting feature of the Rayzer car illumination system is the fact that it is wirelessly synchronized with the vehicle's high-beams and also incorporates an automatic dimming function that turns the light off when it detects oncoming traffic (although the manufacturer doesn't describe very precisely the detection system).

Last but not least, it's important to note the fact that the Rayzer provides a touch of style, beside its obvious functionality. Thus, the device has a very stylish design, which can thoroughly compliment the interior of just about any modern vehicle, while the mounting system is also very simple and straightforward.

Unfortunately, no pricing information regarding the Rayzer has been released for the time being, but it would seem that the product will most likely hit the shelves at some point in the first half of 2008.
