The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is getting ready for release, so one of its developers over at CD Projekt Red decided to talk about some of the finer aspects of the upcoming role-playing game.

The Witcher 2 is set to drastically overhaul the original Witcher, and approach the RPG genre with brand new gameplay aspects and adventures for its main character, Geralt.

Now, Senior Producer for The Witcher 2, Tomasz Gop, talked with Gamer.ru about the locations that can be explored in the game, its achievement system as well as how certain decisions would affect the skills received by Geralt.

When asked what places would be visited by Geralt, Gop played a bit coy, saying that, "If I don’t want to spoil anything, I'd rather not answer this question."

"But what I can tell you is, that it's not only Temeria. It’s also going to be Kaedwen and maybe some other kingdoms, but not Nilfgaard itself. Nilfgaardians will come to see us though so they will be present in the game. We don't have any locations from The Witcher 1, we have only new locations."

Concerning achievements, the CD Projekt Red developer confirmed that they would appear, but the versions that will enjoy it haven't been nailed down.

"We're planning on doing achievements. I can't confirm for sure but we plan to do them both for Steam and other versions of the game."

Last but not least, Gop also explained that Geralt would get exclusive abilities or skills by choosing certain quests

"Yes, there will be such skills. Some of them could be also obtainable with help of the secret merchant from DLC but not all of them."

The secret merchant DLC is available for The Witcher 2 only as part of some exclusive limited editions carried by certain retailers.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is set to arrive exclusively for the PC on May 17.
