A lot of gamers who use the PC as their primary platform are very happy with the fact that Microsoft is introducing a new wireless adapter that will allow them to use the Xbox One controller with their computers.

But it seems that the new solution, which will be offered in the fall, is designed to only work with the Windows 10 operating system, which is set to be launched in late July.

Microsoft has confirmed the decision to Polygon but has not offered a clear reason why it does not want to support Windows 7 and Windows 8 users.

The Xbox One wireless controller adapter will be offered for 25 dollars or Euro on its own and can also be bought in a bundle with the new version of the controller itself for 80 dollars or Euro.

At the moment, gamers can use a wired Xbox One controller with their Windows-powered PCs and this option will probably continue to get support from Microsoft in the future.

It's understandable that the company wants to promote the new operating system and the Xbox One integration that it will introduce, but many potential users of the controller will be unhappy with this new announcement.

The Xbox One is getting a new major bundle

Microsoft has revealed that it is offering a new bundle that combines a 1 TB hard drive version of the platform with the new controller and a copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection for 400 dollars or Euro, starting on June 16.

Older versions of the hardware are getting their price permanently set to 350 dollars or Euro in order to make them more attractive to players.

The Xbox One has managed to outsell the PlayStation 4 in the United States during April, according to the NPD Group, and Microsoft is keen to maintain the momentum.

With the launch of Windows 10, the company is aiming to integrate the gaming capabilities of the operating system with those of its home console, with a dedicated application and other shared features.

Microsoft has not said whether it will deliver PC versions of major Xbox One exclusives in the future, but it has promised a set of surprises for those who love to play on the PC.
